The Voice Behind the Journey

Hello, I'm
Madinahon Hasanova.

I'm a Tajik-born writer and independent traveler who has spent the last five years documenting the landscapes, people, and living traditions of my home country — one dusty road, one mountain pass, and one shared cup of tea at a time.

Tajikistan is rarely on the travel map. That's exactly why I write about it. From the silent mirror lakes of the Pamir Plateau to the ancient silk-road bazaars of Khujand, this country holds stories that deserve to be heard beyond its borders.

On madinahonhasanova, you'll find honest first-hand travel guides, cultural deep-dives, practical logistics for independent travellers, and the kind of intimate storytelling that only comes from someone who grew up loving this land.

Crossing the Wakhan Corridor

A narrow strip of land wedged between Afghanistan and Pakistan — the Wakhan Corridor is one of the most remote and breathtaking routes on earth. Here's how I crossed it on a shared jeep with four strangers and a bag of dried apricots.

Street Food in Dushanbe's Green Bazaar

Before the glass towers went up along Rudaki Avenue, Dushanbe was its bazaars. The Green Bazaar — Bozori Sabz — remains the living, breathing, steam-filled heart of the city. A morning here is worth more than any guidebook.

Hiking in the Fan Mountains

The Fann — Foni Kuhiston in Tajik — are a geological extravagance: turquoise lakes at altitude, glaciers retreating up valleys that feel designed by someone who wanted to make Switzerland feel ordinary. Three days, two passes, zero mobile signal.
